Our Story
Pioneering Ag Aviation Since 1992
Fantini Air began in 1992 when founder Fanie Keyser turned a passion for aviation into Fantini Air, a small crop-spraying outfit on a farm near Viljoenskroon. As demand grew, the operation moved to Kroonstad Airport, where we added a Flight Training School (SACAA 1094) and later an AMO, building everything around real farm-field operations and a safety-first ethos.
From those early seasons spraying herbicides, fungicides and insecticides across the Free State and Western Transvaal—and later bush-control projects in the Northern Cape, Botswana and Namibia—our fleet expanded from a single Piper Pawnee to aircraft ranging from microlights to Air Tractors. When we saw there was no formal pathway to train ag pilots, we wrote the syllabus and started training on our own ag aircraft.
Today, Fantini Air is South Africa’s—and Africa’s—only equipped SACAA-accredited crop-spraying pilot training facility, specialising in Ag Training and tail-wheel conversions. We offer one of the widest spectrums of training available:
Part 62: WCM, CCM, LSA, Gyroplane licences & ratings
Part 61: PPL to CPL with all necessary ratings
We teach one-to-one because it works—our students become friends, and our friends become excellent pilots. Fantini Air continues to train the next generation of ag pilots—from first solo spray run to advanced commercial proficiency.
